Welcoming Visitors

The children at Little Footsteps will be treated to inside visits from time to time. We host visits from the local police, firefighters, teachers and librarians. These visits are not only a great way for the children to have some excitement during the day, but also a way for the kids to connect with their local community and learn about life in their home town.

Fire Service Visit

2024
Recently our Dereham nursery enjoyed an exciting visit from a local firefighting team and their fire engine! The children learned about fire safety and the role of firefighters, gaining real-life knowledge through engaging demonstrations. Our children had lots of opportunities to practice their social communication skills as they asked the firefighters questions, took turns, and listened to each other. This visit inspired many of them, sparking dreams of becoming community heroes themselves when they grow up. A big thank you to our local fire department for creating such a memorable and educational experience!

Tractor Visit

A HUGE thank you to Dean from Brambles Farm who came to visit us this morning! We got to sit inside the tractor, sit in the wheels & hear the engine go! Lots of happy faces from the children

Fruit Smoothies

Our Buds & Holiday Club went for a visit to C.C.Wells Fresh Fruit & Vegetables today!
Picking out different fruits to create their very own fruit smoothies.
A super fun activity with lots of learning outcomes.

Library Van

May 2018
To tie in with our 'people who help us' theme, we have been making thank you cards for people who help us within our community. Today we were able to say thank you to the lady who brings our books on the library bus.

Soldier Visit

June 2018
A fun Friday for our Little Footsteps children. A MASSIVE thank you to Smudge - a soldier who spared his time to come and talk to our children all about what the soldiers and the army do. Smudge let us explore his hat and dress up and we spoke about camouflage. Most importantly he reminded us that they are always here to help us. Thank you so much to all the soldiers and people in the forces for all you do, you do an amazing job!

Police Visit

June 2018
An excellent Thursday afternoon for our Little Footsteps children. A MASSIVE thank you to Sergeant Howes, a local policeman who has spared his afternoon to come and talk to our children all about staying safe and looking after ourselves. Sargent Howes let us explore his police car, dress up as police girls and boys, try on his hats and explore some of his equipment. Most importantly he reminded us that police are always here to help us. Thank you to Sergeant Howes for all the amazing work you do to keep us safe and thank you to all the other officers and police that help us, you are all amazing!

We also got to listen to her heart beat through the stethoscope We had such an amazing time!! A MASSIVE thank you to Jon and Kelly for sparing some of your busy time to come out and teach us about looking after animals and letting us meet your animals Thank you for our little bags with our colouring sheets, bandages, masks and hats, we love them Thank you to all the people who help to look after our animals ❤

What a fantastic afternoon for our Little Footsteps children. We have been so lucky to have John a first responder come in with lots of equipment for our children to explore. We have been learning and practising basic CPR. We've also been learning how to use a bandage dressing, exploring a defibrillator and listening to our heartbeats using a stethoscope. Here are just a few photos of our amazing time. A MASSIVE thank you to John for coming in to teach us all about how he helps people! A big thank you to all of the first responders, paramedics and health roles that help us

Events for Parents

In addition to guests from the community, Little Footsteps will regularly hold events for parents to attend. We host termly parents’ evenings and family days, as well as events like Body Shop parties, Pampered Chef, EYFS Workshops, paediatric first aid training and more.
These events allow parents to become more involved in their children’s development at our nursery as well as to socialise and network with one another. It’s also a way for parents to learn about what’s going on at Little Footsteps.
