Little Footsteps Growing Older
Little Footsteps Sing a Rainbow
Muddy Kitchen
We have our very own muddy kitchen for all children to explore. A mud kitchen is a lot more than just providing children with an area of soil to dig over. It brings together cooking with life-size utensils and role play from the home and outdoor environment into one sensory experience.
Mud kitchens provide lots of opportunities to support children’s learning and development across the seven different areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. Explorative play is important as there is no wrong or right way. It therefore allows all children to engage with the activity without worrying about whether they are able to achieve the end product. Playing with mud allows a child to be creative, develop fine motor skills as well physical skills. The mud kitchen enables children to role-play at home cooking. It provides lots of opportunities to support language development. The child’s explorations with the natural environment will help him or her to learn some basic science, eg how the earth or soil changes when it is mixed with water. Numeracy skills will be developed as the child learns to measure volume using the different containers in the kitchen, filling them with mud or water.
PE Lessons
Here at Little Footsteps we offer weekly P.E Lessons to the older per-school children. We supply the children with sports clothing to wear and depending on the weather this takes place either inside or outside. The children learn skills such as dressing and undressing, balancing, running skillfully, the impact of exercise has on the body and much more.
Buds preschool class of 2024’
As we come to the end of the academic year it’s a good time to reflect back on all the fun we have had in Buds. We have learnt about different festivals and celebration's, shared a love of books, got messy in the messy trays, enjoyed the garden, been on trips and made friends. As some of our Buds children prepare to take their big steps onto school, we wish them the best and we will miss them all.
Yoga
At Little Footsteps we offer daily Yoga to all our 2, 3 and 4 year olds. Children gain an enormous benefits from yoga. Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improves.

A big thank you to all that came to our chicken clicking story cafe today! Was lovely to see lots of faces and most importantly the children having fun!
Cooking Lessons
At Little Footsteps we offer weekly cooking lessons. We inspire young people to have fun with food and help them make informed choices towards a healthy eating. A small groups of children each week take turns to follow a recipe and create a healthy snack to take home. To embed family links, we also send the recipe home to recreate the food at home and bring back to nursery to share with their friends.
Why we do cooking lessons:
1. To help your child hone basic math skills
2. Encourage trying new foods
3. Help explore with their senses
4. Boost confidence
5. Extend child's vocabulary and promoting literacy when reading a recipe together
6. Following steps in the recipe can extend listening skills.
